- 理の瘡痕 -

美しさの本質を探求している。それを写し出したものが僕の写真だ。 とはいえ、よりよい被写体を求めてるわけではない。そんなものはないからだ。 それを美しいと思う僕らがいる。ただただそれだけだと思う。

見慣れた世界に美しさは感じない。見知らぬ世界には美しさを感じる。 同じ世界でも感じ方は違う。なのに僕らはこの世界の違う見方を知らない。 知れば世界のすべてを美しいと思えるかもしれないのにだ。

僕ら人は自己中心的だ。あまりにも自分たちを中心に世界を見すぎている。 故に理解に苦しむこともあるだろう。例えば多様性。それは何のためにあるのか。 個人の尊厳のためではない。 生きとし生けるものが所属する生物圏が、次世代でも存続するために掛けてる保険に過ぎないと思っている。

だが、生物圏を中心に世界を見ても、すべてを美しいとは思えない。 もっと世界は単純だ。すべてはゼロに戻ろうとする。ただただそれだけだと思う。 生物圏もその揺らぎのひとつなのだろう。つまり僕らの営みは坂道を転がる石ころと何ら変わらない。 すべてを『理（ことわり）の瘡痕』と言ってもいいだろう。世界は僕ら人が絶望するほどシンプルなのだ。

それを理解した上で眺める世界は美しい。そこは見知らぬ世界だからだ。 どこを切り取っても美しい。美しさで測るライン上にないものまでも、そう感じることができる。 僕の写真はそれを写し出したものだ。

- Traces of principle -

I am exploring the essence of beauty. My photographs capture that essence. However, I am not seeking better subjects. There are none. We find it beautiful, and that’s all.

In the familiar world, beauty eludes us. In the unfamiliar, we sense beauty. Even within the same world, perspectives differ. Yet, we remain unaware of these alternative views. If we understood, perhaps we could find everything beautiful.

Humans are self-centered. We see the world too much from our own perspective. Consequently, understanding can be elusive. Take diversity, for instance. It exists not for individual dignity but as insurance for the biosphere to persist across generations.

Yet, even when we center the world on the biosphere, not everything appears beautiful. The world is simpler. Everything tends toward zero. That’s all. The biosphere is part of this fluctuation. Our actions are no different from rolling stones on a hill. We could call it the ‘Traces of principle.’ The world is remarkably simple.

Viewing it with this understanding, the world becomes beautiful. It’s an unfamiliar world. Every fragment is beautiful. Even beyond the lines of conventional beauty, we can feel it. My photographs capture precisely that.
